For her sixth album, Koh refreshingly steers clear of the big violin mainstays and turns instead to less-traveled repertoire, Schumann's three violin sonatas. Koh is a devoted fan of the 19th-century composer and his distinctive, involving brand of romanticism, and it shows.
Partnered with pianist Reiko Uchida, she combines passion with an emotional depth that belies her age in these powerful performances.
