String Poetic, Jennifer Koh, violinist, Reiko Uchida, pianist (Cedille).
Koh has gained a place among the ranks of today's top young violinists, earning special kudos for her willingness to venture into new, sometimes unproven repertoire, as she does in this engaging collection of four modern and contemporary American sonatas.
Well paired with Uchida, Koh offers focused, technically secure performances that capture the diverse moods and styles of these works. The album culminates with a suitably kinetic take on John Adams' rhythmically charged "Road Movies."
