Bridge to Beethoven: Overview
Jennifer Koh and Shai Wosner discuss their upcoming collaboration, 'Bridge to Beethoven' which pairs Beethoven’s ten violin sonatas with new works over four programs. Their project explores the significant impact that Beethoven has had on audiences and artists from various cultural backgrounds. New works have been commissioned from composers Anthony Cheung, Vijay Iyer, and Andrew Norman as companion pieces to specific Beethoven violin sonatas. 'Bridge to Beethoven' also includes performances of Jörg Widmann's 2010 work 'Sommersonate,' which Koh and Wosner performed the US premiere of in 2014.
