There would be no maverick composers without performers like Koh, who indulges her insatiable musical curiosity on this program with a tribute to some of the past century's most iconoclastic musical voices. Pianist Reiko Uchida joins the violinist on the expansive vistas of John Adams's Road Movies, Lou Harrison's polystylistic romp Grand Duo andJennifer Higdon's String Poetic, which was composed specifically for Koh. The white-hot postclassical composer Missy Mazzoli's intricate solo violin piece Dissolve, O My Heart, inspired by Koh's Bach and Beyond project, rounds out the afternoon.
